The parties never seem to end, at least in our part of the world. Every now and then, someone we know is celebrating their birthday and oftentimes, we are invited to a small celebration at their house.
Yesterday, we were invited to attend the 21st birthday of the daughter of one of our friends. It's going to be a masquerade ball, so all guests are required to wear a mask. The 21st birthday is a grand celebration here, so I might suggest them to consult the wine of the month club as to what type of wine to get for this special occasion.
I don't know how we are going to attend the party with the little girl around. Since all of our family and friends are going, we cannot leave DD with anyone. It's a big dilemma alright.

One More Hurdle To Go
The most dreaded day is finally over. The little girl's party was a huge success and we had tons of food left as it was overflowing. We had to take the leftovers home. Now, we will probably have to eat the lot for the entire week to gain back some storage space in our fridge.
The next item on our agenda is our moving out of the house. We really need to concentrate real hard on getting our stuff packed so we can transfer them in a more organized fashion. I am very much looking forward to April. By then, things will hopefully be more relaxed and settled.

Anticipating
Well, in a few hours, we will be finally celebrating the little girl's birthday. J already has the keys to the tsa locks of the community centre where we will be holding the party. I've partially finished my dish assignments for the occasion and all we need to do is just decorate the place and be ready when the guests arrive.
We definitely feel less stressed out this time as compared to her baptism celebration last year. My poor mom didn't sleep because she was slaving in the kitchen, cooking 4 dishes all by herself. That was a nightmare indeed. We are just so lucky to have family and friends who are more than willing to help contribute for the party. Thank God for them!
Time for me turn in now as we are going to have a big day ahead. I hope all things go as planned.

Happy easter!
I just realised how much of a big deal easter is here. The realization dawned on me yesterday when we went to shop for the little girl's party at Hyperdome. It was like a madhouse at K-Mart because people were scrambling to buy those chocolate easter eggs. As the day ended, the shelves were empty of all candies and chocolates.
And to confirm this idea, today, at a godchild's birthday party, some of our friends handed out chocolate easter eggs to the little girl. We took home quite a number of it so we have a few dozens of them in our fridge right now. Even the little girl was given by her aunt a bunny ears and tail set to wear at a get-together we had earlier today. Cute! :)

Shopping Dilemma
Speaking of the big party on Monday, we have yet to buy party supplies for this event. I would want to go all out but we are constrained by our budget and the high prices of these supplies here are such a big turn-off.
If we were in Manila to celebrate her birthday, it would have been easy and we would have gotten the best buy and deals for all we need to make it a grand one. And it wouldn't take an arm and a leg to have one, mind you. *sigh* These are just one of the things I miss about home.

Big Day
It's our little girl's first birthday today. She's a year old now and no longer our little baby. Time sure does fly and she has grown so much since the day she was born.
We are going to celebrate her day among ourselves. We'll probably just have lunch at a restaurant and buy her a cake for her to "blow" out (if she can). Her big party won't be until Easter Monday yet since it is Holy Week at the moment.
We are also scheduled to see the real estate agent to sign the lease contract of the new house we are transferring to. We'll also drop by the community health centre for a little check-up of the little girl.
Argh! So much to do but sooo little time. I don't know how we'll be able to do all of it later.

Celebration
It is almost time to bring out the Riedel glasses and make a toast. Yes, our little girl is turning one this Tuesday and this certainly calls for a major celebration.
We celebrate the wonderful gift that she is that God has given us and the immense joy that she brings to all that surround her. We also celebrate because J and I have survived almost a year in raising her by ourselves. It was no easy task (with all those sleepless nights) but all the sacrifices we made was definitely worth it. :)

Busy Bee
I have mentioned here before that we are moving out soon. We found a nice house on hill nearby and we will be transferring there in a couple weeks' time. As such, I am tasked to slowly start packing our things in boxes so we will only have to deal with the furnitures later on.
I can't believe how much stuff we've accumulated in the past year. This makes it all the more difficult for me to decide which ones to pack away first (decors versus CAT6 cables). With only 2 weeks left, I better draw up a list so I can be more organized.

Gosh, all this tagging is making my head spin. There's soooo many going around at the moment that I lose track of them, especially those with viral linking.
But this cute one from Joey made my day. :)
Feel free to hand this out to your lovely heavensent friends on the web. :D

Health Buff
Ever since my mom turned 50, she has become quite health conscious. She now chooses more low-fat meals and is an advocate of a certain health drink. She also takes some supplements and what-nots for a healthier her. She's even recommended some liver cleanse pills for J when she found out that J had fatty liver a couple years back.
I don't blame her, especially since her BP went up when she went into menopause. Life is too stressful these days plus the food we eat are not really as healthy as they were before due to pollution. I am happy that she has taken steps to live a more balanced life. I don't see her that often so it's good to know that she is taking care of herself well.

My New Toy
Speaking of my new toy, here it is:
We were in Fyshwick last Friday and we were scouting around for a good deal from a couple of stores. Good Guys had the best to offer as not only were they selling a twin lens kit, but it also came with a free camera bag, filters, screen protector and cleaning cloth.
I am still tinkering with my new camera as I am not very familiar with DSLRs. But it is quite interesting as it's taken digital photography to a different level. There's lots to learn about the camera, so much so that I don't know where to start! I am just glad that I have a new hobby to indulge in. :)

Gift Ideas for Bro
I was talking to my younger brother D on YM last night and showed him my new toy. He was drooling over my two lenses because when he purchased his, it was only a single lens kit.
Anyway, his graduation and 21st birthday is coming up soon. And he is requesting if I can get him a wide angle or fish eye lens here. I am not sure though if it is cheap here than in Manila. But if it is, it'll will be our gift to him. If not, then we'll probably just settle for one of those MP3 players. The 1GB shuffle is so cheap these days it's insane! :)

Preps for the Party
In two weeks' time, the little girl will be turning one. And yes, it is a much-anticipated event by most of people we know. They've even volunteered to contribute a dish or two for our lunch celebration.
To date, here is our ( tentative) menu for the 24th:
- baked spaghetti/pasta
- kare-kare
- bulgogi
- pancit
- potato salad
- vegetable salad
- rellenong manok
- lumpiang shanghai
- pork barbecue
- beef mechado
- fruit salad
- banana cake
- window cathedral
- leche flan
- 2 birthday cakes
- ice cream
OMG, now that is one loooong list. There goes our diet! :P

Big, Long Weekend
We are having our very first super long weekend for the year. Since J took a leave of absence from work last Friday as it was his birthday, and Monday is Canberra Day, our family is enjoying a good 4 days off.
Other people may have also done the same thing as we did, and some may have also gone on holidays to take advantage of the long weekend. It is not unusual though that lots of accidents on the road occur during holidays like this so it's just practical that all drivers must make sure that they have auto insurance because you never know when an accident may happen.
Anyway, I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend like we are. Cheers!

My Day
Today is my day. My birthday, that is, so I thought I'd take a couple of quizzes just for fun. :)
You are 67% Pisces |
Your Birthdate: March 2 |
You're so intuitive, it's like you have a sixth, seventh, and eighth sense. You connect with others freely and easily - and you tend to have many best friends. Warm and caring, it's hard for you to close your heart to anyone. Affection is like air for you - you need to give and receive it to survive. Your strength: Your universal compassion Your weakness: Your unpredictable mood swings Your power color: Mauve Your power symbol: Butterfly Your power month: February |
Ha! Most of it is true so I won't be arguing with that. :P
